I believe they said that is by design on "slim" PS2's, to force it not to load a disk when OSDSYS starts. Only way they could do it.
Edit:
Ah, there it is: http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast...tml#post434968

I have no way of testing this, as I don't have a slim, but I would THINK that setting these two config items would over-ride the "emergency" entry to the browser:
Code:
OSDSYS_Skip_Disc = 0
OSDSYS_Inner_Browser = 0
My reasoning is that with OSDSYS_Skip_Disc = 0, it is expected to boot a disk if inserted anyways, so why bother going to the MC browser? I'm not on my PS2 right now, so I'm not sure what the corresponding FMCB Configurator settings are.

I saw the changelog for the 1.7 release, and I was hoping I was the CC user that was referred to. However, the 1.7 release still fails to load the hacked OSDSYS. I can use freemcb 1.7 as long as I change my AUTO to ule or any other elf rather than OSDSYS. If I use OSDSYS and disable my crystal chip, with pressing reset 6x at boot time, it goes to a Boot manger (BM 2.1.6) screen with a error that no firmware was found.
upon reboot, reactivating the CC2.0, the ps2 behaves as usual, and if I deactivate it again with freemcb set to autoload ULE.elf it works great.
Again thanks for all your hard work!! Awesome development.
I did test the same ps2 with the old composite cables to check that too. Still won't boot the hacked OSDSYS.

Weird thing...
Fast boot : Off
Go to browser : Off
Skip disc boot : On
Insert a pressed game, start FMCB, goes to hacked browser for a half second then goes automatically to MC browser...
If theres no game in the disc tray, it stays to the hacked browser.
If I change the Go to Browser to ON, with a game in, FMCB start, skip the hacked browser and go in the MC browser.
Once i select the game, in both ways or with Skip disc boot to Off, the game start automatically but with skipping freezing sequence.
Please note that the laser can be tired.

Bug with FMCB:
I don't know if there are other game with this problem(I have more than 100 games and I can't test every one of them). The problem is with Persona 3 FES(USA),it's backup not patched,I have modchip.
It's like this
Turn on my PS2 and insert the game=>the splash screen show up=>then the Hacked OSD=>Loading=>PlayStation 2 logo=>after all that my PS2 do something like restart(it's not really restart)and FMCB start to load again=>Splash screen=>OSD=>Loading=>PlayStation 2 logo=>PS2 restart and FMCB start to load again
And that's one endless circle. If I want to play that game I have to remove the memory card(I have only one card) or remove FMCB
I have other games that are working but that one isn't

Why...I'm not ESR user,I have modchip
If I do that I have to enter the browser and load the game from there but I try it just in case...it's the same thing, even some times it goes only to the hacked menu(while I want to play that game)but it stays there, like when I don't insert a game but I hear that the disk is spinning. If I remove the memory card or FMCB the game starts just like I'm placing original game on non modded/esr PS2
Edit:Here's another "problem"...sometimes it damages the PlayStation 2 logo when I'm starting a game

most games loose frames (tested on: Burnout Revenge, Time Splitters Future Perfect <- sound issues on fmvs and frameloosing, Guitar Hero, Bully and more). its easy to spot in Guitar Hero I or II. while advancing in menu, the screen seems to cut at half (like on a pc in few games, when vsync is of). ive tested it using ESR, HDL and SM3.3. all ways of running games gave me same results - loosing frames. when i deleted FMCB from MC, everything was back to normal, games were running perfectly. im using FMCB 1.7.
i found a way to make TimeSplitters run better (good sound in fmvs). im running some other game (like Burnout 3), when B3 starts to load i reset console and run TS.
i think something stays on PS2 memory...
when i run B3 and instead of resteting turn off the console, and then run TS, there are still fmvs problems :/
i have V13 PAL
i hope this problem will be noticed...
i made many test, so there is no way i can be wrong about that issue...
please, do what You can to fix it
anyway, GREAT WORK SO FAR!!!!

If you're saying this to me then no,it's the same thing.
FMCB splash screen=>Hacked osd=>Loading Screen=>PlayStation 2 logo=>FMCB splash screen=>Hacked osd=>Loading Screen....
Here,I made a video of the problem.
PS.Just to avoid comments about my splash/loading screens,it's the same thing with the original FMCB

Does it do the same with V1.6 or only V1.7???? Any chance there is a pad stuck on the controller??? It happened once to me and it turned out that one of the pads was stuck and this pad was the one I had setup for (osd...)

With Fast Boot ON/OFF is the same thing.I can't disable my modchip.
I find another bug:
If I turn on my PS2 with that game inside already placed,FMCB freeze at the splash screen if Fast Boot and Skip Sony Logo are enabled. To fix that I have to disable one of them. That also happen if when I turn on my PS2 and run some app for example FMCB_CFG using the quick keys(the disk is inside) and when I reset my PS2(not turn off, only reset)or use the option to restart FMCB,it freeze again at the splash screen.
Fast Boot works for me in that way:
If I enable Fast Boot and Skip Sony Logo, after the splash screen(if I place a game and reset/turn off/on my PS2 or place a game during the splash screen)the game start to load immediately(I'm talking about other games that doesn't have that problem)no hacked osd,no loading screen,no PlayStation 2 logo and that's really good since it start the game way faster than if I disable Fast Boot or don't use FMCB or place the game after the splash screen.
With Fast Boot on and Skip Disk On/Off the game is starting,it's like ignoring the Skip Disk option if Fast Boot is on

I really don't like loosing all the FMCB 1.7 options and fixes just to make one game work, and no there's nothing stuck on my controller. That fast skipping of the hacked osd is not because I press some button but because of the modchip(if I don't have modchip and place an original game it will skip the osd fast too)

Did you tried that, with the original on a NoMod (but with FMCB)?

Does it only freeze, if a disc is in the drive (only this game?!)?

That's the normal behavior.
Fastboot is active/accessed in FMCB's Core (while Splash-Screen).
Fastboot and OSD are separated by each other and don't have a relation in any way.
It even tries to Fastboot an inserted disc, before it "loads-hack-&execute" the OSDSYS-File.

Like I already said, it is in no relation to each other.
Like the name implies, is "OSD-Skip-Disc" intended to stop the disc in OSDSYS.
Fastboot tries to boot an inserted disc, before it even tries to load the OSDSYS.

You lost me,... You mean, when you boot to the hacked OSDSYS (where the OSD-Items are shown), it shows up all OSD-Items for a few milliseconds and than try to start the inserted game, right?
That's normal, too (if you didn't enabled OSD-Skip-Disc).

The modchip isn't the problem since I try other 10 games and every one of them is working normally(only this one isn't).I can disable it but I don't know what happen or it's because I booktype my games on DVD-ROM and when I disable the modchip(press and hold start while I'm turning on my PS2,then Disabled sign appear and from the manual I have to just reset my PS2 and the modchip won't be use)the game boot again(with or without FMCB).

Like I said above I can't quite disable the modchip and this problem is because of a game not the modchip. The game is made in some way to make something like reset and by doing that FMCB load again and that's one endless circle. The game do something that make the FMCB to load again,it's not the modchip.

I just tried that because slicer74 told me to try it.

With skip disk enabled and fast boot disabled when I insert a game the osd shows up for millisecond again but this time it goes to the browser from where I can start the game(but that game do the same loop thing)
Also the damaged PlayStation 2 logo appear sometimes, not every time
