If CodeBreaker and ESR are to cooperate well they must be launched in that order, since the CodeBreaker ELF will lock up if launched with ESR active.
Dlanor this is what i was looking for thanks.....i'll work with my english...
your late Dlanor!
Its figure speech, when i say you're late is because i already know about it.

Here what happen to me.
I've tried with ESR 0.7 with memento patcher and it wasn't working. it was freezing after checking the memory card.
If I remember correctly from 0.8 the game instead "start" and show at least the title screen.
However I rewrite today the DVD with ESR patcher 0.24a and used ESR 0.9a with a TDK wrote at 4X and I'm getting the same result that I get with the old Princo disc use dwith ESR 7. The game load up just fine, then the opening intro of Sony and then the first FMV skip just after 1 sec they begin(with a disturbing skip noise) and the game go to the title screen. If I press start and select to begin a new game it crash(maybe because there is the beginning FMV??), instead if I load a saved game the game work just fine, maybe it freeze If I catch up a scene with a FMV or loading one from the gallery of the game but I haven't tried yet.
The patched game works just fine If I play it with Matrix Infinity on. So the game is not "corrupted", also the original disc has no errors cause I've managed to scan it with nero tool, plus I've already finished the game years ago.
Hope someone else can try this.

Thanks ffgriever!!
I can test the game now with ESR 0.9b Maybe this can help.
Ape Escape 2 doesn't freeze anymore, but fmv sequences have choppy audio/framerate problem(?), while some in game audio seems to suffer of "slow access time", for example while Hikaru answer to a red phone there is a strange delay between different audio phrases, or when there are some streams of audio speech.
ESR works fine also on my new PAL SCPH 90004(so beautiful small PS2 )

Older (was it pre V7? I will check) PS2 models require DVD+R and DVD+RW media booktypes to be changed to DVD-ROM (DVD-R will work just fine).
If you did change the booktype or you're using DVD-R media and it still isn't recognized, then probably there is something wrong about your laser (DVDVideo structure, that's read to identify the disc is placed at very low sectors, which may be under some circumstances a little bit harder to read if burned with some recorders).

What type of discs are you using? Those early versions 1-3 prefer DVD-R discs, but if you use DVD+R, you need to set Booktyping DVD+R as DVD-ROM.
Your burner needs to support booktyping/bitsetting if you use DVD+R's, which most do.

Some FMCB + ESR Problems
Hey
I'd like to first thank the guys behind these amazing projects, what a good reason to re-use my dusty PS2!
I'll start off with some setup info
PS2 MODEL - PS2 SCPH30004 PAL (FAT)
MEMORY CARD - Official Sony 8MB Memory Card
FMCB - 1.7 - Installed Multi-Version via a friend's Crystal modded slim PAL PS2 (I used the 1.7 FMCB tutorial 100% step by step from here: http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/)
ESR - ESR beta r9b
GAMES - We Love Katamari, Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Twisted Metal Black, Monster Hunter
ESR PATCHER - Using ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a
DVD - Burnt on Verbatim DVD-R x16, using IMGBurn or Nero on 4x Speed
Now for the problem.
FMCB seems to load perfectly, running SMS, HDLoader, uLaunchELF v4.30 etc.
Whenever I try to run a burnt DVD, ESR automatically boots, the screen flashes RED - BLUE - PINK, then black for a millisecond, then showing the ESR loading screen again, and then I'm in uLaunchELF for some reason.
After alot of frustration, I figured I can run all of these games via uLaunchELF's "PS2Disc" found in FileBrowser>MISC>PS2Disc
Whenever I do that the screen flashes RED - BLUE - PINK - WHITE(I think) - TURQUOISE and the game loads fine.
I know it might sound like I'm bitching out, but it is kinda frustrating knowing people just slide their backups in and their games loads fine, while I have to do this annoying process (plus it's really uncool to explain your girlfriend how to load games this way, hehe)
Thanks in advance!
Please lemme know if you need some more info.

@Damaged: I assume, you used ESR mc-version.
Rename ESR dvdv direct.elf to "ESR.ELF" and copy it to the BOOT-Folder on the MC, where FMCB is installed on.
ESR-Backups now should run directly through the PS2-Browser (if your "ESR-Path" in configurator is also set to this location on mc).

@PALGamer
Heh, thanks.
I guess that's because I'm working as a mod in another site and I know how frustrating it is to get complaints without related information.

Would be good if we could maybe force ESR to run in a certain V-Mode(video mode, for noobs :P) because, i have my backup NFS:Carbon, from my friend which is in NTSC, my system and TV are PAL, which obviously, doesn't work.
I'm saying like maybe when the ESR splash screen appears, then the users holds R1, it forces the game into PAL and, R2, for NTSC. This would really be helpful, to alot of people, as this is a problem, alot of us are facing.

NFS Undercover
Hi, guys, I just got the latest NFS Undercover...burned it on a DVD-RW with nero with memento patch with 2x speed....waited forever (actually just 30 mins...) and when i start it with memento or ESR after Language selection, memory card verification and some videos....BLACK SCREEN....i think this`ll be the latest problem with screens apart from the so comon Blue Screen on windowz XD
So: TO MAKE IT SHORTLY
GAME: NFS Undercover
Burned with/at/on: Nero/2x/DVD-RW
Error: Black screen after logo`s.
Please do a fix soon...game is like 1 day old so that`s my first guess why it ain`t working. It work`s on PCSX Emulator altho` [only as my pc. sux...only with 2% fps xD]

PS2 doesn't like DVD-RW media, try standard DVD-R ones.

I've noticed on TNA - Impact the dual shock vibration is killed off in ESR as well as HDLoader it's the only game I know that does it, could it be the IOP reset functions killing it? I can't find a options screen to tun it on or off either. The box states it has the dual shock abilty as well the playstation site
http://www.us.playstation.com/PS2/Games/TNA_iMPACT "I couldn't find the European equivalent site."
There's nothing wrong my controller either it's an official dual shock 2 and the vibration works on all my over backups, I pretty sure the original disc worked fine with the vibration feature intact although it's been a while since i've used it as I always play my games via HDLoader for the quicker loading times and it's more convenient than swapping discs every time I to play a different game.
I just use ESR to do backups so my original discs don't scratched up if I run out of space on the HDD and need to re-install them.
Maybe I could joker it with a codebreaker code so I can turn the vibration function back on when it reaches in-game. It's also worth noting this is a multiple ELF game and it switches between the two one for the main menu, character selection screen and arena and another one for in-game the screen goes red and flashes a sequence of colors when going from one to the other.

PS2 MODEL - PS2 SCPH30001 R NTSC (FAT)
MEMORY CARD - Official Sony 8MB Memory Card
FMCB - 1.7 Multi Version
ESR - ESR beta r9b
GAMES - Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - NTSC
ESR PATCHER - Using ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a
DVD - Burnt on Memorex DVD+R at 4x speed, and on TDK DVD-R at 4x and 8x speed using ImgBurn and Nero. I've gotten plenty of other games to work using these two, so I don't think it's their fault.
Problem: When it flashes colors, it only shows magenta, and from there it just freezes. Before it would show one or two colors first, I think white and blue, but now it just jumps straight into magenta.

Nocturne works fine here. I tried the "Maniacs Chronicle Edition" on a DVD-RW burnt at 2x.

So you've got no idea what's going on? I've tried using 9rA, using the gui, burning in multiple programs, using different media, different speeds, but you've got no idea what's up? Oh well, thanks anyway.

Well, is the original disc working fine? Also, make sure the disc image is done properly (crc check etc).

The original disk had problems on this particular PS2, but would play fine on my friends slimline. I'll check to make sure the image was done right, thank you.
EDIT: The image was, indeed, messed up. I don't know how it happened but it did. Works fine now. Thanks.
