A Thought

Hi, I'm new to the forums and I'm not sure wheter this question has been posted before.
But is it possible to make the fmcb boot-cd I created bootable from fmcb itself using ESR ? (So i can install fmcb on my friends mc).

(I installed fmcb on my own mc from another friends chipped ps2)

Best Regards
opius

You couldn't boot any CD/DVD with homebrew on unmodded/unexploited console.

If You and Your friends have PS2 in the same region of MG, You can install FMCB on Your console, at thier memory card.

If his friend has PS2 of the same region he can just copy both saves(SYS-CONF and Free McBoot) using the PS2 Memory Card Browser(card to card). If the FMCB is Multi Installation then it doesn't mater if his friend has different region PS2

Not with a CD, since ESR does not work for CD. It only works for DVD.
If you can compose a valid bootable DVD with the same content as that CD, then that should work, if you patch that ISO for ESR before burning it to a DVD-R disc. But I've never tried it myself, so I can't vouch for it.

That is one good way, of many, to get started.

And now that you have FMCB to boot homebrew, you can do the same for others too.

But the preferred way of doing it is to have the installer folder tree on a USB stick, and run it from there using uLaunchELF.

But it does matter that each memory card has a unique ID code which is used as one of the keys for a signed KELF file as used for FMCB booting. A copied FMCB setup will have a KELF signed for another MC, so the PS2 bios will refuse to launch it.

Thus an installation copied in this way will never work on the new MC.

Thanks

Thanks for your quick response

I think I'll just go ahead and put the installer files on a USB-Stick..

When i have booted the installer from my USB-Stick using uLaunchELF,
Is it possible to reformat my mc and do a clean install of fmcb?
(I'm thinking for future upgrades of fmcb)

Or is my best bet to get another mc?

Best Regards
/opius

If its the same Region like people told in earlyer post.. You can start your PS2 with your exploitet Memory Card.. Then goto uLE and start FMCB Setup then swap your Memory Card with the new and and here you go... If you own a FAT Ps2 and your friend has a slim install Multiinstall, if he and you have the same just install normal...

Thats the way i install FMCB on others MC's

peace

He do not need swap memory card. Just start installer from mc1:/. FMCB will install "exploit" on mc0:/. No risk for slots and much comfortable. ;]
