From what I understand, osdmain.elf is encrypted which is why it cannot be executed from uLE like a normal ELF. Would it be possible to have an unencrypted osdmain.elf and execute it via uLE or the like?

I recently saw a thread on another forum, about a 90k-model, which has a totally changed "MoBo".
Are there different 90k-Versions?

SCPH-90001_BIOS_VX_USA_230.BIN
SCPH-90001_BIOS_VX_USA_230.EROM
SCPH-90001_BIOS_VX_USA_230.NVM

SCPH-90001_BIOS_VX_USA_230.ROM2
I can send these files to either one of you if you'd like. Does the DVD-Player-Upgrade work as a fully alternate method of booting FMCB? If so, I guess that would work for the meantime. Let me know if you have any more thoughts / ideas or if you want me to grab any other information for you, thanks.

Can you tell me how to load sms wo a flash drive?

I do in fact know a fellow who is installing modchips on 90002 models which he came across different mobo on the same version.
http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=123829
So maybe the same for the 90001 models.
Post #3 here says that fmcb works on V18 models.

As far as I can tell from reading around, the earlier V18 consoles work just fine but the most recent batches (LEGO Batman bundle, etc) are a crapshoot of newer MoBo / BIOSes and do /not/ work.

I will ask to Neme to confirm that. But I'm pretty sure his bios have disabled osd update...

It's very much possible, after all the new slims won't ever need any HDD or DVD updates i think, so there's no point in having that feature. So looks like it's best to stick with the fat ones for best homebrew experience.

If it's true that FMCB won't work on newer PS2 then that's too bad!!!
I have a V7 but I think that I'm selling my PSP and buying a Slim < V18 and keep it safe, just in case my FAT dies someday!
Bad bad $ony, no cookies for you!

Now it would be cool to know if new standard ps2 will hold the same v230 bios as the lego batman bundle... I guess yes, but maybe we can be lucky.

Just tryed to use FMCB on my SCPH-90001 (from batman bundle) and FMCB do nothing at all. It seem to install fine but I don't see anything on boot, I tough that my modbo 4.0 could be the problem but look like I'm not the only one in this situation :S

I'm having the same exact problem and I actually started a thread a few days ago about it, but I wasn't able to boot any homebrew even with codebreaker (incompatible usb device? [psp-2000]):
http://psx-scene.com/forums/ps2-gene...ml?#post438023
anyway, my 2 cents is this: the new consoles that are separate from the batman bundle have the same exact serial number, I can confirm this, as for the bios of those systems, I can't say, but I would assume they'd be the same exact thing as they both just came out a few months ago in the 'states.
Damn... I just bought this thing to put FMCB on it.. I hope we can get this working, let me know if I can do anything to help.

Damn it!
It really looks like $ony killed FMCB for good on newest PS2 models. I gotta run to the stores and I hope to find an exploitable version!

Best would be a way to confirm that.
Maybe a few BIOS-Dumps (from...) and pictures, of different disassembled 90ks.

It might, but please send it to Neme, or Jimmi (PM) and do not attach it here (thought about copyrighted stuff...).

I believe you still need to find a modded xx010 since they are diferent country versions from your 01, like explained in the thread you opened a while back...

@JCDes
Actually I could resolve my previous problem, since Windrider borrow me sm 3.8 cd.
I am not trying to do cross version, I learnt that was impossible.
What I am saying is that now I will have to try to install FMCB in a 90010 version.
Hope it works.
