Free McBoot Installer Questions?
To install Free McBoot you need a cheat device to bring the files to the memory card.
But what kind of cheat device? I keep hearing that the Action Replay with the metal case will not work with the Free McBoot installation. Is that true? Is the Pelican Codebreaker and the Gameshark also compatible to install Free McBoot? (EDIT) I would really like to try this method because I want to use HDloader for my fat PS2 with a dead laser.

WTF? The prefered version of Action Replay Max is the one with the Max media player. That one will allow installation on all versions of ps2's. The one without will only allow installation on only fat ps2's. Codebreaker 8.1 or newer is good to use only up until SCPH-7500x. upon that model and newer, codebreaker will not work correctly. Gameshark sucks and don't even mess with it. It is a worthless cheat disc and even more worthless for any other task.

I'm on Codejunkies .com right now and none of these say Media Player on the box. I read the description from the site and it says "Turn your PS2 into a multi-region DVD player and watch movies from other countries." Would that have the Media Player?

That is for the Region, not for the Media Player. All the AR Max versions allowed region changing afaik.

I have two of the AR Max discs with the media player included. I used it to install the independence exploit a couple years ago. They have sat in their boxes since then. If you want one PM me and we'll negotiate a fair price.

But Bootleg, didn't you say that he can use a non media player AR Max for fat PS2? He said he has a fat PS2.

I have also have a Slim and access to a Phat PS2. I guess I'll be better off with the PS2 Codebreaker if I can find one.

with the slim, you can't use codebreaker on it if it is a SCPH-7500x or newer. usb driver issues there. Since you have access to a good old fat ps2 with a decent laser, you're good to go on it with any method.

I was in the same situation with AR Max, so I've decided to go with Swap Magic 3.6.
