And I was just thinking to myself, "What could Zer0-X do now that he's perfected HDLoader?" With this tool, there's really nothing we can't do now. Excellent work.

There are a few patches floating around to fix some games. Speaking of which (and not to get TOO off-topic,) I've patched Soul Calibur II with the +78 trainer and now it works with HDLoader. However, when I try to turn on any cheats, the game just blackscreens when I press start. The cheats work if I play the game from the disc and not the HDD. Does this happen to anyone else? I dumped the game myself instead of using Echelon's image like the .nfo said to do, so I was wondering if it was just me...

ruiner9:
I believe that cheat activation means that the game will be loaded by code that was added as part of the trainer package. This code probably makes direct CD/DVD drive access in some way that HDLoader can't redirect. This is similar to why we can't use SNES-station with emulation ROMs on HD, since that code also makes direct CD/DVD drive access.

Thanks man. In light of all this "no thanks" shit and end users taking taking taking, I just want to say that people like you inspire me to learn even more. I am a "noob", but a very computer-literate, fast learning one. I don't even play my damn ps2 that much anymore since I found all this stuff. I've been learning purely on my own, attempted writing my own proggies, (w/little luck yet), and shake my head at these feelings that grubbers have caused all the good people, contributing anger into something that's supposed to be enjoyable, and interesting. So as a student, thank you.

thx for the work zero, its too bad those *Ownz fags are taking your work for themselves. if we say anything on their forums they'll just delete the message and ban us..
now we just need a way to make incompatible games work and a way to get unofficial drives to be recognized under the ps2 browser without a dms chip.

Zero you are the MAN!!!
I have both tools on Dev.Mode1, I gotta pack them though 'cause I'm running outta space on my MC. I was able to create a 4gig partition (I plan to copy my Genesis ROMs there tomorrow with DMS Dump). One thing I noticed was that DMS Format shows 93gigs free while HDL shows 53gigs free. Other than that, these tools are awesome!! Hopefully ExecFTP and any HDD elf launcher (DMS HDD Explorer, Altimit, PS2OS, etc...) are just around the corner ray:

To get ExecFTPs work with large drive you only need to change the ps2atad.irx with the 48bit one in then current ps2sdk-bin as it's just a separate file on your MC (or where ever you happen have it).
And I'm already poking DMS HDD Explorer on this matter.
Need to test this thing with HDL Dump also.

How exactly do I replace the IRX module within the ELF file? I placed the atad.irx from ps2sdk v1.1 on my MC in the same folder as ExecFTPS, and it still hangs in FlashFXP. BTW, I'm running ExecFTPS v.068. Man this is big news too, maybe there should be a seperate thread for this!
I can't wait for your DMS HDD Explorer release! The DMS Team hasn't updated their Tools, Dev 1 & 2 Explorers in a while...

To replace embedded IRX you first need to locate where it is in the file, then how much does it take space to see if it can be replaced. Old versions are often smaller so a new one needs to be recompiled to strip all the unnecessary bits from it to get it fit, yet still function.
I have ExecFTPs 0.68 also and it started working just fine after replacing ps2atad.irx on the MC.

Zer0-X:
Concerning ExecFTPs, I really think it would be better to contact the author and ask him to use the 48-bit lib to compile a new proper release. He is currently working on a new release anyway, to fix the 20-21 object directory bug, in response to bug reports by myself and others. I'm sure he would also like to extend his program's capability when it comes to HD size.
Concerning HDD Explorer, is there any chance of making it independent of the DMS chip ?
Also, once you have patched it, how is it to be installed ?
Not by the same old and bugged installer as in the original release, I hope!

I think the DMS HDD Explorer is written to the beginning of the drives Master Boot Record or something as it's not on the drive in any fileform. I'm still looking for how to lauch the explorer itself independently.

Zer0-X:
That is very interesting.
If your idea is correct, then the implementation of Dev.olution mode 2 in Ripper 2 Gold is pretty much a hoax, since the manufacturer of that chip does NOT provide ANY means of installing ANYTHING in that way (unlike DMS).
