USB support, and new features in myps2
Somebody can add to myps2 automatic support for usb?
To the being a project of opened code, I believe that she can be well updating it, since she has a great potential.
Another improvement can be the launching of direct applications (to the style ulaunchelf), without having to accede within the folders. (As if they were direct access within my programs).
The viewfinder of images can also be improved.
I believe that it is an application that this a little forgotten and has much potential, even but that ulaunchelf, and that to the being of open code the people who understand can improve it much.
Thanks!!!

USB does work, but i've found you have to have a network adapter first, and you need to put an USBD.IRX somewhere...

Hey everyone! (my first post :P)
I got myPS2 working on my memory card, and also copied the USBD.IRX to the mc with launchelf so i could use my usb pen. The thing is, i can access the "mass:" folder, but it doesn't show none of the files i got in my pen, not even folders...
I'm using USBD.IRX from naplink as recommended.

I am also having the same problem, after adding the USBD.IRX i can now see when the usb drive is plugged in but when i try to browse it it shows that it is empty. I also noticed that by default some partitions show up in the pictures, files, programs menus... but i can not see any of the files untill i go into settings and mount these. Maybe the USB drive needs to be mounted, i just dont see how in the myps2

Hi there! to my experience (Though I don't know if this would work with you guys...) Try having the pen in FAT 32 format. look it up under my computer then drive properties...if it say's 'fat' then you need to have it formatted to FAT32, under windows 98/se this isn't possible....windows XP works miracles, got stuck unto the same problem back then...hope this helps!... Cheers!
PS. NOT ALL USB PENS ARE COMPATIBLE...also upon loading myPS2 if it shows it was able to locate USBD.IRX, then myPS2 has its "USB support" enabled.

simply go to the folder where USBD is in your pen, select it and press R1, then copy. Go to mc0 path and put USBD inside myPS2 folder, "BOOT" folder, or in mc0 root, by pressing R1 and paste.

I just managed to get the toolchain and sdk working on my linux machine, and managed to compile myPS2 1.2 on it.
I am now working to update the libraries, especially libjpg. I guess it will still take some time before I can release a new version, but at least I'm working on it
To the original poster, I won't include full USB support either I guess because the USBD.IRX file is NOT open source so posting any version with the library included would be posting warez which is not allowed on these forums. This is also the reason why it never was included in myPS2 so far.

In fact PS2SDK now contains a very good version of "usbd.irx" which is used as the embedded default in the current uLE versions. You can compile this as part of PS2SDK, unless you have some problem with the latest PS2SDK version, like we do for uLE.
If so, let me know, and I'll post a copy of the version we use. This is the same IRX version as in current PS2SDK, but compiled previous to the source changes (in other PS2SDK parts) that brought some problems for uLE.
NB: Since this is the PS2SDK version of "usbd.irx", it is not 'warez', like commercial versions would be. So posting it here, or using it in your program, brings no legal 'issues'.
And for "mass:" driver I also recommend the version of "usbhdfsd.irx" that has been bugfixed for uLE (also for use as embedded default). This has many improvements over the old usb_mass drivers.
Of course, you can go ahead with your current plan to not add the USB support too. I just wanted you to know that there are no longer any legal hassles to force that choice upon you.
Best regards: dlanor

Thanks for the info I just got the PS2 for our son for xmas (with a Crystal 2.0 modchip) and just got started with all this stuff.
I got the latest source code for uLE and am currently trying to merge it into the myPS2 source code. I am not exactly a C/C++ coder, I am more a linux specialist and coder for C#.net so all I can actually do for myPS2 is gather together sources and try to merge/compile them. I won't be doing much work in advancing the code though (at least I am not currently planning to, who knows what the future brings though). At least I might be able to append some code from other projects (like SMS) to add movie player functionality to myPS2 but this would be far ahead in the future.
So far I got myPS2 1.2 compiled with some library enhancements but I haven't managed to run it yet (it seems to be crashing at differen points).
Once I got it to run somewhat stable I will post my versions, and I will try to include USB support as well. We'll see I guess
Thanks a lot for your support
/cheer
Henk
