Heyas,

I just finished my first attempt at myPS2 1.3

I haven't done much testing yet, but it seems usb_mass support works "out of the box" now. At least I managed to load a .jpg file from my USB stick inside myPS2. Pics from my Digital Camera won't load though, I will try to look into that issue next.

Several libraries have been updated to the latest version I found on the net. I have no idea how much I broke which was previously working, and since it's 1.30 am now and I have to work tomorrow, I won't be able to do much more testing.

The attachment only contains the myPS2.elf binary. I will post the updated source code within 24 hours, since it's 3.6MB and too big to attach, so I have to find a space for it first.

Please provide constructive feedback so I can improve the program.

P.S. I even managed to launch myPS2 directly from the memory stick (using a PS2Slim with Crystal 2.0 chip) without any major problems so far.

PPS. As mentioned below, first you need a working release of myPS2 1.2, then replace the MYPS2.ELF with the one I attached. Running just the attached .ELF file will NOT work!

I tested it by loading it off my usb drive from uLaunchElf v4.08, and I'm pretty sure it hung, unless I'm really impatient. Next I launched it from my memory card, and it failed to load load gui string table.

Next I tried with all the files from the myps2 1.2 archive, with your elf replacing the old one, and ran that from a subfolder on my usb drive from uLaunchElf, worked fine from there. I played around with it, everything seemed to work fine. The default DNS server IP failed to resolve hostnames when I went into the radio, but after changing to OpenDNS's server IP, all was well.(Might I suggest that you change that?)

The radio crashed on me after a few playback tests, but I don't know if this was a bug you introduced, or if it was always there.

Wow. This sounds good. MyPS2 always failed me earlier when I tried USB. I haven't had time to try your release yet, though, but I will.

Maybe it would be a good idea to change the name of the release from MyPS2 1.3 to u-MyPS2 1.3 .. or something like that, unless you got the permission from - I forget his name - to continue his project, still under the original name?

I will try this too! MyPS2 was my favorite, as it has had samba support since its beginning.

Yeah! I've been waiting for this for a long time!

Some suggestions:

- Use uLaunchELF's libjpg. It's the most updated (I think). This is the main reason I'm not using MyPs2.

- Add a configurable boot menu for aplications. It's kinda anoying having to look for the aplications in the file browser. Being able to list them by alphabetical order or something like that with little description like dmsexplorer would be great, but a simple boot menu (with nice button icons) is more effective and clearer, something like keylauncher. (this is the other main reason, lol)

I am not the best person but I will be glad to help you and \i have a few things I want added to the program but I do not have enought knowlege about programing the ps2 to edit the source.
I will be gald to help you by testing and if you can help me by showing me how to learn what I need to do to figure out how to understand the programing I will help you take this to the next level but I will need some where to start I do learn fast but I just don't know where to start.

It seems to be ok for me... anyway I use myPS2 as the second browser cos' uLE loads faster, and with a nice skin it looks pretty good.

Anyway, it is a pretty good ideea.. if under the Shut Down button it would be possible to load more buttons... let's say one for SMS and two more for various uses would be SUPER (selectable icons or triangle circle square x Buttons).

And for your ideea to integrate sms code into myps2... it's always best to use separate apps for anything because it will always be the most up to date code.

Thanks bunches for this, for the life of me I couldn't get 1.2 to load the USBD file from any of a hundred locations on the memstick. (loading myps2 from the USB stick)

Unfortunately, it doesn't want to play MP3's from the USB thingie, but that's not a concern for me.

Sorry it took a while to get this working, first the hard disk in my dev box died and then work turned into a nightmare.

Here is the link to the source code I used to build the version posted above:

I couldn't fix mp3 yet, but I think it's not a problem of myPS2 but rather something that changed in the ps2sdk. I'm not sure yet though. Also, for the jpgViewer, I found out that uLaunchELF, from which I took the updated jpg library, cannot load the reference picture either which was made by my digital camera. If anyone knows of pictures that work with uLauncELF but not with myPS2 please let me know (post them here if possible).

I guess the thing I will focus on first is fixing the mp3 stuff and then I will look into loading jpg's.

Once all the original functions work without too many problems I will look into adding functionality.

Also, the next official release will most likely be called myPS2-NG and have the version number 0.2 to distinguish it better from ntba2's releases. This should also make it easier for SuperPack maintainers to have both versions included in case someone wants to stick with 1.2 instead of my releases.
