This is what I guess could be called a "safe" menu as it doesnt allow for easy access to important data. It is rather memory heavy (1mb with uLE) because being able to have all icons other than the current highlighted one requires 10 CNF files. The BOOT Folder download contains uLE all skins and CNF files ready to be placed on an MC. Just make sure to rename BOOT Folder to just BOOT.

Wow dra6onfire, this is almost exactly what I have been trying to do with your skin since you uploaded the psd. I'm a lot slower at using photoshop, but I'll still post my interpretation of your skin when I'm done.
Thanks for raising the bar yet again!

I found some inconsistencies in your CNF files.
Since the main CNF is configured to use 'Cross' as the 'OK' or 'Launch' button, I guess it's your intention that this button should be used to launch the elf (or MISC subprogram) of each CNF, as is also confirmed by your predefined launch key definition for PS2Disc in "LAUNCHELF2.CNF". But in "LAUNCHELF4.CNF" you have defined 'Circle' to be the launch key for the FileBrowser subprogram (possibly because it's a default uLE definition). I suggest that you change this to 'Cross', for consistent usage.
Your GUI skin pictures all seem to imply that L2 is to be used for turning the console off, meaning that the L2 launch key should be defined to use "MISC/PowerOff", but the CNFs don't contain any such definition.
Circle is defined as file browser in the CNF because I was placing it in a space where a person with no experience with the programs on the skin would normally wander and mapped to a button they wouldnt normally push. That Icon as actually for the Datel Memory Manager. And as for the power being mapped to L2, I don't have that Icon in the skins that I use so when I set it up I guess I forgot, my bad. I'll fix those as soon as I have some more free time. Thanks for the notes.

@dra6onfire: Since you did most of what I want to accomplish with your latest skin revision, do you mind upping the .psd with the changes you made? It would save me lots of time since I only need to do some tweaks to make it perfectly suited for my friends usage. Thanks!
I uploaded the file. I cut out most of the extra bits and pieces except for the icons and buttons so if you need the old overlays or the browser group, don't delete the old file. Good luck.
@TnA
I'll see what I can do with that tomorrow when I have more free time to do it. Just to make sure I read you correctly, you want the XMB skin to have a text editor and jpeg viewer icons added to the media section? That should be easy enough.
yea these icons really dont look as good to me either but im going to put more work into these ones when I have time but for now they will have to do. All the other icons here were a long line of skin development so naturally they look better than the ones I just did.

Variation of Dragonfire's skin in Horizontal format. R1 switches .cnf files as does left and right. Programs are listed in the frequency I use them. Everything but ule is in the zip. Thow the contents of the boot folder where ule is. Both .cnf file use the relative file location method only available with the most recent ule versions.
I have also made an Icon for Xploder HDTV player. If anyone wants the psd for it let me know.
I will expand upon this idea and make a three row horizontal, and 45 degree angle version in the future. My goal was to only map the face buttons to the icons, so as not to confuse users with too many options at once, but to fit all my most commonly used shortcuts/apps as big as possible. The skin and .cnf for every icon method I asked dragonfire to make proved simple, but took up way too much MC space. It also took a while to get to the correct icon before it could be launched. So why didn't I just make a single skin? Well, I have only wireless controllers that require me to hit a face or shoulder button to wake-up on start up of the PS2. So I left the left shoulder buttons available for me to whail on as the PS2 starts up.
Thanks everyone for the help and inspiration. Thanks specifically to dragonfire for doing most of the work on this skin and dlanor for coding this cool functionality into ule!
