Custom uLe GUI Skins (No Menu - 4.13)
This thread is for requests for custom variations of the GUI skin I have attached.
I currently have icons for the following ELF files or uLe functions:
uLe Browser
uLe Configure
uLe HDD Manager
SMS Media Player
PS2 Net
InfoGB
InfoNES
SNES
Sega Genesis
HDLoader
Codebreaker
Cogswap
Swap Magic
Datel Memory Manager
I'm not opposed to creating new icons but these should cover the majority of the needs for this skin.
The skin with fewer icons is an older version showing how customs with 9 icons appear.

Cool thanks for doing this! I like the nine button one. The reason I asked about getting the icons from you is to make a six button screen. The six things I would use are HDL, CB, Gen Emu, SNES Emu, NES Emu, and SMS. These six are relatively safe for my friends to use when using my consoles. If you feel you want to make one like this, then that's great, but I just as happy to get the icons from you and make it myself.
After reading dlanor's post about being able to map left and right on the d-pad, I wondered if you have any plans to make a 14 button skin
One last question- Is there anyway to make the skin path find the files no matter what MC slot the card is in. Currently the skin path is only correct if the if the card is in the same MC slot as the .cnf is set to. If it is in slot 1 then the skin is obviously not found. I realize the path can be set to the HDD or MASS, but I want it to be self contained, so nothing but the MC is needed.
Anyway thanks for the great work!

Reason: Skin path question worded incorrectly.

No. The skin path choice (like all configurable paths in uLE) uses a fully specified path, and moving the card to the other slot means that a different device specifier is needed.

Currently the skin path is only correct if the .cnf is set to MC slot 2, and the MC is in slot 2.
|
That is not true, or at least terribly garbled.
uLE will always look for the skin in the path you set it up to use. So if you want to use slot 1, then you simply select a skin on "mc0:/". There is absolutely no inherent locking to slot 2 in uLE, such as you state above.

I understand that you want uLE to search both MCs for the skin (and presumably all other files on MC), but I really don't see any point to this. Implementing MC access this way would make uLE unable to discern between these two storage devices ("mc0:" and "mc1:" I mean), which would be a serious handicap.

really nice skins!
I would be very glad if you could make an custom variation for me, which look like this:
- HDLoader on X
- SNES Emu on triangle
- SMS on square (maybe with an music and video icon)
- Browser on O
as Mainicons in the same order as on the gamepad.
Smaller and at the bottom or the side, icons for:
- config on L2
- PS2Menu (the standard one) on R2 (if you want to make another icon, if not config on Select)
- Shutdown on R1 (some realy small icon, like the windows one)
- HDL Dump on L1 (same logo as PS2NET)
The Backround, Colors and Font should be simple, maybe like the original menu or with some fresh colors like white and light blue.
Thats it, i know very custome, but you will make me very happy =)
And if you want to make a skin for HDL, uLE and SMS in the same style, i will not stop you to do that
Thanks a lot!
best regards grecky

I put together the skin you requested in a few different background flavors. If you have different button preferences that can be done. Hope you like em.

Wow! Those are great! Thanks. I just love how clean the icons look. I will now be able to leave my PS2s out for my roomies to play without having to tell them how to boot the diff progs.
Have you thought of making a package that has ULE, SMS, and HDL, with a similar style skins? Possibly even the emus that can be skinned too.
Perhaps some collaboration with JNABK and you guys could agree on a style you want to both work on at the same time?

@ Grecky, I'll never know which you use lol, use what suits you better.
@ urbigbro, I have considered doing a lot of skinning projects but I really don't have the time. I use all custom made skins for my programs and for this one its simple to convert my personal version to a custom version but with work and my wife and everything else I do, I dont have a massive amount of free time to burn on this stuff. I enjoy doing what I can because the scene has given me a lot and I want to give back what I can within reason. If you wanted to take on that project,I am more than wiling to give you my .psd file for this project and let you do what you want with it.
And a far a JNABK, I would have no problems working with him but we have very different styles and I think it benefits more peoples interests when we both work on our own skins.

Hello,
I would like to make a small request.. Is it possible for someone to make a gui skin with the following options as Main icons in the same order as on the ps2 gamepad. Possibly on a big gamepad photo
0=hddloader
x=SMS
[]=snes
/\=sega genesis
L1=NES
L2=Code breaker
R1=File Browser
R2=Hdl dump
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks

I'll work on it when I have time, but the controller image is impossible sice you wouldn't be able to see both shoulder buttons.

I don't think it's impossible at all.
Of course they can't both be visible when viewed from a point 'straight up' relative to the main button surface. But if you start off like that and then tilt the controller 'backwards' 30-45 degrees, you will be able to see all gamepad buttons at once.
Another alternative is to split the button display into two subpictures. One showing the gamepad 'top' and the other showing its 'front'.
Best regards: dlanor

I'll be honest and say that I dont really feel like this skin was a success. If you feel otherwise please let me know, but here it is.

Thanks dra6onfire for the promp reply and work on the skin, I really appreciate the effort you put into the skin. The skin you made is very much appreciated but may I kindly suggest you remake one with the following layout.
Thanks again for all the work put in

I can definitly look into that type of design, that was my first idea but it requires a much smaller controller image and didnt seem like what you wanted. You are gonna have to wait until I have more time to work on it.

Here's my first go at that design. I'm not satisfied with it as I had very little time to complete it and I may work on it more but then again I may not.
