Help with running SM.ELF on uLE

I have the swap magic 3.6 dvd elf, and whenever I try to run it from uLE it is doing one of two things for me:

1. If I boot the ps2 with a high toc game, and launch SMAGIC3.6.ELF from uLE - it briefly flashes the swap magic splash screen then just sits on a black screen indefinitely.

2. If I boot with no disc in the drive & run the elf, it goes to the main swap magic screen - where I press eject, put in my high toc game, wait for the refresh, then swap for my backup, press X....and I get the black screen again.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks!!!

I have never myself swap-loaded any game discs, so I am unable to help with swap-specific problems.

I don't really know what is happening there, nor exactly how it is supposed to work even. But since you are reporting this in the uLE subforum, I assume you mean that this is a problem with uLE !?!

So then I have to ask you if the same procedure works better when launching the same SwapMagic elf by some other method ?

Best regards: dlanor

Use v3.8 instead v3.6 can't be loaded as it needs over files off either the cd or dvd to run properly.

@dlanor - I didn't think it was an issue with uLE, I just figured I was doing something wrong in the process & since it involved launching from uLE I figured here was the best place to ask.

@kevstah - Thanks, I'll try in a while here and see if that works.

It's only v3.6 that doesn't run properly v3.3 works fine just like v3.8

That's strange, because I have the same problem. I posted in another thread, but you've gotten it to work so I think it's more appropriate here. I'm able to boot it regularly using the real SM disc, but when I try to load it from the MC, the PS2 thinks there's already a disc there, so it won't load it at all. Plus the FMCB auto boots into the retail game, so I don't have time to click on swap magic from the PS2 main menu. Oh, I think it would help to mention that I have a PS2 slim and there's no slide tool for that, so all my switches are covered. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Since you don't mention using uLE at all in the above, I don't see why this is an issue for the uLE forum. It seems to be more related to issues that you have with your FMCB configuration, so it really should belong in the FMCB forum (unfortunately still misnamed 'FreeVAST').

Sorry, to "spam" into this thread.
In my opinion:

Project-Name: FreeVast (as it was in the beginning)

--> Subprojects:

-MG-Embedding/The Exploit itself
-FMCB, the loader embedded as an update
-ESR, as extra-"module", to expand the abilities of FMCB.
-FMCB-Configurator, also as an "extra-module".
(-OSD-Hack, which is now part of FMCB, so no own sub-project for now...)
-...maybe others come... (like another loader, instead of FMCB)

All in all the FV-Project. Just my meaning maybe.

But I understand why you think this way.
It might confuse them.

A sentence which explains, what this sub-forum is for is missing.

I just thought that the original post was trying to run SM through uLE, and that's how I'm running it too. Using uLE or using the FMCB from the PS2 Main Menu pretty much works the same right? Either way, sorry if I haven't been clear, but my problem is exactly the same as the original post, except for the fact that maybe he's using a slide tool? I'm not sure. But if this isn't the sub-forum for this question, I'll be more than happy to post it in a different one
